Sister Spa Day

Maren was in the midst of the last week before greenhouses opened to the public. Hannah and I were fighting hard to regain health after a simple yet allergenic Easter and holding down the fort while Dad and Mom had a four night get-away. Still we took time out to enjoy each other last week.

Sister Spa Day Schedule:
- Empty Bowls event... in which we all picked out a hand-thrown bowl filled with soup. Maren ate her soup and put the rest in a container for later, while Hannah and I ate our packed lunch.
- Crashing on the couch with relaxed visiting
- Exfoliating lemon juice and baking soda face scrub
- Cleansing charcoal face mask
- Moisturizing honey and coconut oil face mask
- Steamy foot soaks

Hannah and I savored breakfast out of our new bowls the next day while we were still feeling refreshed if not well after our day with Maren.

Friends Help

Friends recently gave a couple hours to help our LuoPad stash grow. A quick count shows that we have caught up with our one-for-one donations for all hand.maid.en sales. We even have some to spare.

He shows Himself mighty...

"Sing to the Lord a new song,
His praise from the end of the earth..."

"The Lord goes out like a mighty man,
like a man of war He stirs up His zeal;
He cries out, He shouts aloud,
He shows Himself mighty against His foes."

- Psalm 42:10, 13 -

Preparations for a Quiet Easter

Our family isn't up to much excitement this Easter, but we did make an exciting new dessert for Hannah and me. Fresh strawberry tart awaits in the freezer.

Dad's Surprise

Dad came home from a shopping trip with Mom with a surprise bouquet of tulips for his daughters. He chose the oh-so-homey and garden-like color himself.

Afternoon at the Lakes

Dad and Mom had an outing idea for a windy Sunday afternoon a couple weeks ago. Why not take a drive and see what the receding ice was doing?

Our first stop was the lake we formerly called home - until Grandma's cabin was sold shortly after her death. It was good to see this lake of many memories.

Ice that remained in the middle of the lake was a welcome fishing dock to a bald eagle couple.

Next stop - the lake we still call home along with Mom's brothers and sister. Ice had made a small ridge in the sand and debris on shore.

There were some yards of clear water on our side of the lake on which Hannah determined we should take a canoe expedition. And so we four piled into our tough, old tank of a canoe.

We got ourselves into a couple tight places but always managed to get out. Our route had to be altered on our return voyage due to moving icebergs.

A Bit of Taffy

My bag of yarn scraps isn't large, and yet it was calling my name. These left-overs, mainly from my squares blanket, are going to make a decorative pillow. The colors combined make me think of salt water taffy.
