Afternoon at the Lakes

Dad and Mom had an outing idea for a windy Sunday afternoon a couple weeks ago. Why not take a drive and see what the receding ice was doing?

Our first stop was the lake we formerly called home - until Grandma's cabin was sold shortly after her death. It was good to see this lake of many memories.

Ice that remained in the middle of the lake was a welcome fishing dock to a bald eagle couple.

Next stop - the lake we still call home along with Mom's brothers and sister. Ice had made a small ridge in the sand and debris on shore.

There were some yards of clear water on our side of the lake on which Hannah determined we should take a canoe expedition. And so we four piled into our tough, old tank of a canoe.

We got ourselves into a couple tight places but always managed to get out. Our route had to be altered on our return voyage due to moving icebergs.
