Joint Birthday Celebration

Let's back up even farther - to February. A joint birthday party was held for Maren and Jason at their home. All was delightful and delicious.

Egg, gluten, sugar, and dairy free cupcakes safe for all.

A Nest of Bunnies

Did you ever come across a nest of bunnies as a romping child and have your heart wrung by their adorable fuzziness and the thought that your cats might discover and devour them? Well these bunnies are safe from the molestation of preying cats. My first attempt at knitting a bunny turned out a little wonky. Mom dubbed him the Little Runt. And so I had to give him a Big Brother to fight his battles. Big Brother is waiting for his eyes to open and a little more development before he's ready to leave the nest.

Squishy Garter Stitch

My knitting needles have been quite busy the last three Sundays. A Quince & Co. pattern that I received on a free offer and left over yarn from my stash made for hours of inexpensive enjoyment.

An attractive and satisfyingly hand made market tote was the result. Will I use or gift it? That I do not know.

But this is certain. I thoroughly love these colors in squishy garter stitch.

Two Pairs

In one day I washed my first pair of hand knit socks and finished knitting my third. Very satisfying.

 

A Perfect Combination

A cozy, yak-down sweater and well fed fire were not a good combination this afternoon, but fresh air and a hot drink were perfect.

Confession of a Knitter

I have a confession to make. It has been two months since I last touched a pair of knitting needles. Yesterday I decided to give them a try and found that they did not deplete my energy levels if used at the right hour and did not irritate my nervous system. That was a relief.

Home Grown Yarn

Twenty-five to thirty years after shearing, our wool is becoming yarn. For as long as I can remember, there have been grain sacks full of our Lincoln-Finn sheep's wool on the top shelf in our garage. At long last we are getting it spun by a local mill. Below is only a small fraction of the beautiful yarn that is still in process of being spun.

Sunday Project: Pillow Lace

A few favorite things:

Creating and making my bed with knit and crocheted lace. 

Destashing our basement of craft supplies.

Sharing the creative fruit of these years of illness with friends.

Remembering God's promises and sharing them with others.

Sunday Project: Little Knit Hats

I believe I've written about Sunday projects in the past: handwork that is purely for the joy of creating to enjoy my Creator on the day He set aside for rest every week. Here is one such project that I began in January and carried on into this spring until part of my yarn stash was depleted. These hats will soon be packed into Operation Christmas Child gift boxes by Maren and Jason to be sent to little girls in developing countries. With them will be offered the greatest Gift that came that first Christmas.

Note: This was not only Sunday knitting, but also my sole project on our February trip to Florida.

Stay at Home: II

Late March Dad and I did the much discussed project of dropping off our 25 year old or more wool fleece from our sheep days to be processed at a mill a nice little drive from home. While this was not technically staying at home, we kept social isolation and saw no one but dogs, alpacas, and sheep.
